The 25th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday the 22nd October 2011 was attended by around 60 past and present members of The Pines Tennis Club.  Old and new faces came together in a day of fun, food and some fantastic tennis. Highlights included the presentation of the Inaugural Alycia and Josh Mair Award for sportsmanship on or off the tennis court. This was awarded to Eugene Ganley for his dedication, support and good sportsmanship off the court, which he demonstrates in a range of different ways including doing maintenance work when required, cooking barbecues and helping Liz run the Vikings Cup for our Juniors. On hand to present this award were Josh and Alycia’s proud family.

Other highlights included a raffle of assorted items including tennis packs, gift vouchers and tennis lessons. Robert Jamieson, the club’s coach conducted a mini tennis tournament that everyone was involved in, with the eventual winner being new member Mar Sanchez. And of course, a celebration is nothing without a magnificent cake! The picture below shows David Holloway and Liz Inkpen, the Pines Tennis Club’s two life members, cutting the cake.

Thanks to all who attended and helped us celebrate a worthwhile achievement.
